The strategic information office (SIO) is a department responsible for handling data and information management. Its role is to address issues and enforce rules involving the use of information and data.

The SIO is sometimes known as the office of the chief data officer (CDO). Having an SIO role at an SMB is beneficial because one person is responsible for data management and can own all operations and decision-making that impact the company's information.
