Platforms Glossary
Stale data is data that is not relevant to a company's daily operations and, therefore, does not help them make real-time business decisions. Stale data often exists in the form of irrelevant data files and folders housed on company computer systems. Businesses typically require fresh data (recently updated data) to make good business decisions based on current market conditions.
Small businesses must make solid, data-driven decisions to stay afloat in today's ever-changing marketplace. However, SMBs can only do so if they can access real-time data. Using stale data to make business decisions puts small businesses behind the curve, which makes it difficult to scale up a small operation and compete with larger businesses in their market sector.
